Scope of this statement
This statement applies to the website spreat.com. As a service aimed at businesses, it does not, as we understand it, fall under the obligations of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) - we publish this statement voluntarily, because accessibility is part of what we expect of good software.
What we aim for
We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA - the benchmark the European standard EN 301 549 also applies to websites. We do not meet that standard on every point yet - we keep working on it and check new pages and components against these criteria.
Following a self-assessment, the website is partially compliant with these requirements. A formal external audit has not taken place so far.
Measures in place
- Semantic HTML with a logical heading hierarchy and exactly one main heading per page.
- A skip link at the top of the page leads straight to the content, past the navigation.
- The entire website can be operated with the keyboard; the focus is visible at all times.
- Animations respect the system setting for reduced motion - anyone who has enabled it gets the content without motion effects.
- Form fields have visible labels; error messages are technically linked to their fields and are read out by screen readers in context.
- Images carry alternative texts, purely decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers.
- The layout works from 270 to 3840 pixels wide and at strong zoom levels without horizontal scrolling.
- Audio and video content never starts by itself.
- The language of every page is marked up technically, in the English and French versions too.
Known limitations
- As a text colour on a light background, our brand green does not reach the AA contrast value. We use it deliberately and sparingly - never for longer texts, and important information never depends on this colour alone.
- A few elaborate animations - the shelf animation on the homepage, for instance - are switched off when motion is reduced, and their information is then available as static content; we keep checking that the two are equivalent.
- There are no complete transcripts yet for the audio recordings in our stories.
